Young People

Over the coming years we want to take what we have learnt in the early years action research project and apply it to other areas of the curriculum – especially with young people in secondary schools.

The research indicates some strong links between opportunities for early movement play and a person’s future capacity to function in all areas of their lives. This is because movement plays a significant part in the development of the brain and nervous system, not just muscles and bones.

In 2008 we are beginning a partnership with people working in secondary education, developing understanding of the impact of lack of early movement on a young person’s capacity to access the school curriculum and developing ways to support the on-going drive to move into fuller functioning.

We hope that this will be the start of a working group of people interested in developing a long term research and development project.
