Working with JABADAO

We are always keen to hear from people who may be interested in working with the company in future.

The JABADAO practitioner team includes:

  • Project practitioners (with at least one year of experience of working with movement in relevant settings)

  • Training practitioners (with at least five years experience of working with movement in relevant settings – and probably more)

What we are looking for

JABADAO Practitioners draw on a wide variety of core skills. They are dancers by nature, teachers and group workers by training, and health workers by inclination. Each must have a background in movement observation, group process work, therapeutic movement, developmental movement and dance.

Practitioners work with the functional body, the expressive body and the felt body all at once. In common with physiotherapists they are concerned with anatomical form, structural alignment and misalignment. Like non-verbal communication specialists they see the way bodies communicate and express thoughts and feelings, needs and desires, inner attitude. Like movement analysts they are interested in the way people organise their movement and, therefore, the way they organise themselves. Like developmental movement specialists they see early movement patterns buried within the flow of movement. Like dancers, they see (and feel) worlds beneath the surface, beyond the words. Like children they relish the sheer physical pleasure of rolling, sliding, leaping, rocking and bouncing. And as they move, or watch others move, they feel stories, memories and images move within themselves…
