Sociable Exercise

Sociable Exercise is a person-centred approach to movement and exercise that emphasizes pleasure, playfulness and the fact that every body is different. It aims to involve physically frail older people in the kind of physical exercise that is undoubtedly ‘good for you’, but so often dull or difficult to sustain.

Rather than a traditional exercise approach, Sociable Exercise focuses on the relationships that movement activity supports, actively nurturing both physical and mental wellbeing.

Involving volunteers
The ten-day Sociable Exercise training has been devised with the specific purpose of involving both health and social care workers and volunteers. Emphasising safe practice and duty of care, as well as an innovative approach to physical and mental wellbeing
