Developmental Movement Play Journal
A5 journal with simple practical examples of DMP in action. Practitioners speak to practitioners.
Written by practitioners for practitioners, this new journal shares their experiences, insights and new practice as they implement Developmental Movement Play in Early Years settings following training with JABADAO.
All these practitioners have taken a fresh look at why children move as they do, (wriggling, running, climbing, sliding and tussling their way through life), based on theory and research which suggests that children are biologically driven to seek out the movement experiences that they need for their development. As a result practitioners have made major changes in the environments, resources and experiences they offer children.
In this twice-yearly journal (November and June) you will find:
• Movement observations that practitioners have done as they develop their skill in observing children’s spontaneous movement
• Examples of movement play practice that support wellbeing and learning
• Ideas for setting up a movement corner and examples of how children are using them
• Activities that make links with parents and families so that new understanding reaches out into home life as well
• Case studies and learning stories that build understanding of children’s movement play
