Directions to Leeds venues

Leeds Cathedral is on Great George Street, but Wheeler Hall is just behind it, located precisely opposite the main traffic entrance to the Light Car Park (the best known landmark for taxi drivers etc.)
Trains come into the city mainline station (Leeds City) from all over the country, with particularly fast routes from London (two and a half hours) and the North East (Newcastle less than two hours). From the station you can get to Wheeler Hall easily by taxi, but even more easily (we think) on foot (see below). People have also flown to Leeds airport from the Channel Islands, the West Country and Aberdeen – all very short flight. Like the train station, the airport is within reasonable taxi distance. (There is also a national coach station in the centre of Leeds with very reasonable fares if you don’t mind a longer travelling time - catch any bus up the Headrow to the Town Hall and follow directions below)
If you arrive in Leeds by train, come out of the station by the main exit. Taxis are immediately in front of you: if you wish to walk, it will take you about five minutes. Turn left out of the station and walk into City Square (statues of graceful ladies and a man on a horse). Cross the Square moving right into Park Row (banks etc) - walk straight up Park Row until you get to the Headrow, directly facing Leeds Town Hall and the Museum and Art Gallery. Cross the Headrow, turn right, walk between the Museum/ Henry Moore Gallery and the Radisson hotel along Cookridge Street to the first set of traffic lights and turn right into Great George Street. Signs for the Light and the Light Car Park are evident on the right - simply follow the little road round the cathedral until you find the entrance to Wheeler Hall directly opposite the Light Car Park. (You can also cut through the Light precinct from the Headrow to end up in the same place)
If you are coming to Leeds by car, the Light multi-storey Car Park is extremely convenient and well signposted, but may cost as much as eighteen pounds for a day’s parking.Directions by Car
