Code of practice

Code of Professional Conduct

JABADAO Practitioners will act, at all times, in ways that:

• safeguard and promote the interests of individual participants
• justify public trust and confidence
• serve the interests of society
• uphold and enhance the good standing and reputation of their profession

A Practitioner is personally accountable for their practice and will:

Public Safety
Act in such a manner as to promote and safeguard the interests and wellbeing of participants.

Endeavour to create an open atmosphere in which participants feel able to make active choices about how to keep themselves comfortable and safe, and able to influence what happens and how it happens.

Assist all colleagues, volunteers and carers to participate safely and happily within the work.

Ensure that no action or omission on their behalf, or within their sphere of responsibility, is detrimental to the interests or safety of participants.

Report to an appropriate person or authority any circumstances in which safe and appropriate work cannot be provided, or which jeopardise safe practice.

Report to an authority circumstances in which the practice, health or safety of a colleague may compromise standards of practice or safety.

Maintain written records noting accidents or incidents that occur during their work.

Acknowledge, and work within, their limitations and decline duties or responsibilities that they are unable to carry out in a safe manner.

Professional / Personal Development
Maintain and improve their professional knowledge and competence throughout their career keeping a log book of CPD undertaken.

Working with colleagues and partners
Work in a collaborative and professional manner with others involved in providing services to participants, recognising their own particular contribution, within a larger context.

Assist professional colleagues, in the context of their own knowledge, experience and sphere of knowledge, to understand the unique contribution that specialist movement practitioners can make - to develop their professional understanding of, and confidence in, the work.


Equality and Diversity

Recognise, respect and value the uniqueness and individuality of each participant, and involve each person regardless of their ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, personal attributes, the nature of their health problems, or any other factor.


Confidentiality

Protect all confidential information concerning participants obtained in the course of professional practice and make disclosures only with consent, where required by the order of a court, established by codes of practice in issues of Safeguarding, or where they can justify the disclosure in the wider public interest.


Safeguarding

Maintain a Safeguarding policy and share appropriate information with professional colleagues.

Have a current Extended CRB check updated every two years.

Keep professional records that address Safeguarding issues and share relevant information with members of the care or education team, where indicated within the current Safeguarding code.
